The alpha channel is denoised together with the RGB, which is the current default behavior. If you do not wish to denoise the alpha, generate the denoise elements only and use the 'vdenoise.exe' (...Chaos Group\V-Ray\3ds Max 2020\bin\) tool instead.

don´t really understand the sense, but if its that way i have to pay much more attention.

        thanks Aleksandar

We have a feature request to add an option for the denoising of the alpha channel so we will get to that.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

Is this still on the to do list? Currently denoising the matte shadow is the only full proof way of getting a noise free shadow. But in doing so, it causes harsh edges between the ground shadow and rendered objects. On that note, is there any plans to improve the matte shadow noise? It is impossible to get it noise free without ridiculously high render settings.

              Thanks

+1 I'm having a little trouble with the noise in the matte/shadow. If I use denoiser it creates weird edges near the rendered object.
