  • Problem with Light Cache - HashMap

I was getting a light circle above the spotlights with a white (190 white) material until I switch to the old KD tree light cache or change the material to a darker one.
I used reset x-form on the spotlights and even put a cup-like object into the spots, to be sure there is a closed object inside of the spots, but nothing worked except switching to the KD tree.

    What is going wrong?

    Hi,

I couldn't reproduce those artifacts in a new scene. Would it be possible to send over a scene to philip.shounev@chaosgroup.com for a closer look ?

    Best regards,

Yup, it would be best to send a scene to Philip to check out.

        I have done that,
The max version is 2020.1 and the newest V-Ray.
The original object for the spotlight is an imported step-file.

Other than that, there ist nothing special about it.

Ok then. Can you tell me which V-Ray version you have now (as shown in the About rollout)?

          Best regards,

Off topic: I do not know much about math, but is this helpful for V-ray? I just read about it.

It’s an interesting read, but doesn’t help much for the problems that we have to deal with

Yes, I'm working on a fix now. For the moment you can move the disc light to be just outside the light fixture and it will be fine.

Thank you for the tip. I should have done that, but it is just to obvious...
