  • Deep Workflow & Smoke SFX

    Hello,
we are currently evaluating a Deep Image Workflow and we have few problems with smokes.

After rendering, my VrayFB is fine but the image saved does not seems to contain the smoke information (but the shadows are here).
With nuke i can't find any information on the smoke.

I've tried with both FumeFX (5.0.4) or PhoenixFX (3.14) on 3dsmax 2020 & vray 4.20 and having same results.

Does the smoke information is automatically switch to a special channel in deep image or does they are totally not supported ?

I'm taking any advices / informations on deep workflow, there's truly a lack of documentation....

    Thanks !

    1. When using PhoenixFD - Make sure you set the rendering mode (located in the Rendering tab) of the simulator to 'Volumetric Geometry' and the image sampler type to Bucket
    2. When using a VRayVolumeGrid - Make sure you set the rendering mode (located in the Rendering tab) of the Volume Grid is set to 'Volumetric Geometry' and the image sampler type to Bucket

Indeed the volumetric option is making deep EXR work but :
      - the render time is insanely increasing
      - the max tree depth has to be increase a lot too... i'm a little worried to increase this on huge production scene
