so as the title says, Alsurface shader don't receive caustics . They won't show up if you have alsurface with SSS on ( I don't know if the sss is off, I did not tested that ) so let's say you have a glass object in front of and alsurface object and there is caustics casting from the refractive object onto the alsurface, it will not receive them and will look very dark while the sss2 it worked.

First of all, sss mix should be 1. Also, try to use 2 sphere superposed, like for an eye let's say, and the external part beeing transparent and you uncheck affect shadow and put raytraceon of course. you will get problem.. I guess I will have to post a scene for that too

You are right - it's not working when sss mix is set to 1 and I've log it in our bug-tracking system under VMAX-9115. A scene would be very helpful. You can send it over to tanya.todorova@chaosgroup.com. Thanks!

A sample to reproduce an issue should be considered a firm request from our part, one to skip only if it's impossible to narrow the problem down (f.e., random crashes or hangs non scene-dependent.For which one should submit a minidump, if at all possible.).Last edited by ^Lele^; 26-09-2019, 01:30 AM.Lele

See if you can live with that while it gets fixed.Lele
