  • GI Artefacts with AlSurface shader

    Hey there,

Recently started on a cinematic character and wanted to improve my skin shading, so I tried out Alsurface for the first time and really liked it, I think it looks less "plasticky" than the standard VrayFastSSS2 shader I used before.
Problem is: I´m getting big, squareish artefacts, when I try rendering it with GI (Brute force/GI).
    I´m on Vray 3.60.04
Is that a known bug or some other combination in my scene?
Also is there a good tutorial out there on the shader showing the color variations for all the sss maps?
I just used the same map in diffuse and sss main map slots so far.

Could you send the scene along with a few screenshots of the issue to support@chaosgroup.com so we can take a look? Mention this thread in the e-mail as well.

Regarding your question - currently, we do not provide a tutorial for the VRayALSurfaceMtl, however, we do have a plan for one listed in our to-do lists, I'll note your request as well.

Yeah, I have to revisit the scene soon, its for a personal project, so I work only on and off on it.
I noticed however, that the VraySkinmaterial is pretty similar, and there is a tutorial out there for that, so that I started with that and there are no artefacts there.
