The Preset names are the wrong way around on the latest vray.

Also I have a question about that - is it just a preset for the values below it or is there something else going on there?

AFAIK It is just a preset for the values

It changes only what the tooltip says.
Values can be reset to their default *per preset* with a rmc on the spinner.
In other words, resetting subdivs while the animation preset is selected will set them at 3000, with the still preset selected to 1000.
