  • VFB 'freezes' after render added to history list

I've had a bit of a sabbatical from V-Ray and 3D (around 5 months) but am back and so I updated to the latest V-Ray Next Updates (update 3). But I'm noticing issues which tbh I'm finding a little unacceptable....

For example my render times are taking longer than before (for a scene revisited) even though my machine is as clean and fast as it's ever been, and I now seem to have to wait a fair bit of time before I can 'access' an image in the VFB once my render has finished and is visible in the list of renders.

I could have sworn I'd seen render region had been fixed previously in terms of it being merged in with a previous full render (but it's now not currently doing that for me, I just get the render region and nothing around it, and I also have an issue where I hit render and instead of seeing the RGB or Effectsresult I see a RefractionFilter layer instead (okay, 'easy' for me to select the RGB but it comes across as though we're going backwards here).

I took a look to see if this has all already been reported here in the forums (didn't find anything but also I didn't look that hard) but I have to say, V-Ray Next and its updates, in terms of longer render times and more issues than I've had in the past with older versions, well, let's say I'm both surprised and a tad disappointed if I'm being honest.

Yes, I know there are a ton of new features but we've seen this before with other software companies pumping out new versions, features and updates and I thought Chaos were different.....

Not my usual type of thread - so happy to say my sadness over this is now over and complete

    Jez
