  • render_to_texture baking and displacement maps

    Hello,
The first image shows a photo scanned image set render (Vray next gpu, 3ds Max 2020). The next is after doing a render to texture with a VrayCompleteMap at 2048. I just started laffing when I saw this, and thought,"man, you don't know what you're doing. Better gets some guidance.". The displacement map channel setting is at 2.0,, anything above that it goes complete stalagmite. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

It looks like a low-resolution issue. Could you elaborate a bit on what you're trying to achieve?

      Hello,
I baked a VrayCompletemap expecting it to look similar to the first image once I applied it to a plane, but it wasnt even close. I was under the impression that you can bake this texture into a VrayComplete map and get similar results after applying it to another plane.

From what I understood, you bake the scan-displaced plane to be used as a displacement on another plane? Why not use the original scanned photo? Otherwise, you possibly need a tremendous output resolution to capture such detail.
