VRaySoftBox does not work properly with Mesh Light.
Confirmed with V-Ray Next, Update 3.1

Thanks for the report. We are aware of the issue (Bug-tracker id: VMAX-3468 ), I'll bump its priority additionally. As a workaround, you may bake the VRaySoftbox via the "Render Map" option and use that instead.
