Can anyone explain what causes this effect when using Vray displacement mod? when I test my displacement maps on a simple plane they look fine but I frequently get these artifacts in actual model scenarios. I'm using 2d mapping with a vraycomptex mix of noise and a grass bitmap but even with a basic bitmap the problem persists.

Although those long polys can cause trouble and are to be avoided, as are the big ngon faces, this does work in the example I just tried using a similar shape, made from an extruded line/convert poly/delete all but top faces, so there may be something else wrong with your model or settings.
