  • Asset Browser Issue

    Hi everyone,
    I am super exited with Vray5, especially with the Light Mix part! I have an issue though with my asset browser. The button on the Vray toolbar actually doesn't work at all. I am literally selecting it and nothing happens. I have checked that the library files have been downloaded so I can't see what the problem is really. Is there a way to associate the specific button command ewith the location the files are saved? Cause I suspect it must be a file location issue. I know i can actually access and import the library through the material editor, just looks nicer in the browser (I ve seen it in the latest Vray5 videos) with bogger samples etc. Any thoughts?

    Thanks all

    Try:
    1. Registering the V-Ray menu's via the toolbar button or running the "registerVRayMenus()" command in the MaxScript listener
    2. Disabling any third-party plugins
    3. Resetting your 3ds max preferences to their defaults by renaming the ENU folder to ENU_old (C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\ 3dsMax \2021 - 64bit). Upon starting 3ds max, a new ENU folder will be created with the default preferences

      Hi Thank you.
      I did steps 1 and 3 but how do I disable 3rd party plugins? I did the following but didn't work

      any thoughts?

      Cheers

        The Autodesk guide should work, I just tested it. Did the other two suggestions make a difference? You may try a clean reinstall as well.

          No unfortunatelly didn't work. I might try reinstalling at some point. For now loading the mat libraries through the material editor works great.

          Thanks again

            I'm having a similar issue but most of the icons on the toolbar are missing. Is there a maxscript code for launching the asset browser?

              braddewald Not sure how that happened, try reinstalling V-Ray. Otherwise, using the following MaxScript command should bring up the Asset Browser:
              Code:
              vrayShowAssetBrowser()
