  • V-Ray 5 - VFB2 popping up on wrong screen

    3ds max 2018 + V-Ray 5.00.03 build 00001

I flagged a similar issue for V-Ray Next a while ago.

I create a new scene - hit render - scale and place the VFB2 where I want it (monitor 2) - close it.
When I hit render now, the VFB2 pops up where I expect it to (monitor 2, where I left it).
But - If I save the scene - close max - open max again - open the scene - hit render - VFB2 resets position to monitor 1, and I can to the whole thing over again - for every new/old scene that I create/open.

And on top of this. If I use the 25,50,75, etc % render settings in VFB2, EVERY time I change the percentage, or toggle the button on or off - and hit the render button teapot - the VFB will pop over to monitor 1.
    This is... annoying.

I've noticed that if I maximize the VFB2 on monitor 2, it will actually stay put when I switch things around, but even this would not make it pop up on the right screen initially when opening a scene.

    Edit:
Just tried clicking a thumbnail from my VFB history. Each time I click an image, the VFB jumps to screen 1. Am I really the only one using more than one screen?

This is what I would like:
V-Ray should remember the last used position for the VFB no matter what scene I open - and inside of that session, it should respect that position always. Don't make me chase the VFB.

I uninstalled V-Ray 5 for now and reverted to the latest V-Ray Next, as I don't immediately need any of the new features of 5 on my current project, but would be extremely annoyed by having to chase and move the frame buffer up towards a hundred times a day when clicking any history thumbnail or simply switching between scenes.
I really hope this issue will be resolved quickly though.

      Hello,

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the report. Indeed there are problems with VFB2 and multi monitor setups that we'll try to address soon.
(Note to self - always having Max and all its windows on screen 1 and all development tools on screen 2 doesn't help in catching such issues )

      Best regards,
      Yavor

The recently released Hotfix (5.0.04) contains some fixes for multimonitor setups - VFB should now stay on the screen it was previously placed when loading new images/starting a new render. There is one case left - showing/hiding the history panel sometimes moves the VFB to the main screen - will fix this one too.
