Are you making a still or an animation? You could also try it without the lock nosie pattern, but then average a bunch of frame together. Of course that increases the render time linearly.

Side-effect is that you get a noise pattern that looks like hovering over the image...
I prefer a dancing noise look, but without the dancing highlights!

EDIT: It does only work if the camera is static. As soon as it moved, you get randomly placed hightlights again.Last edited by kosso_olli; 23-06-2023, 08:58 AM.

We still run into this a lot. It always always ends up being a second light for the highlights. Also, been having much better results with a distant regular Vraylight vs. a VraySun. Not quite as accurate, but tends to work much better. A vignette as a light texture map also seems to help.
Would really like to see a fix like Corona has.Last edited by Joelaff; 23-06-2023, 08:31 AM.

Well, the carpaint is a Vrscan, but it happens with all materials having glossy reflections.
The "solution" to use two different suns was not tested, as this just does not feel right or physically plausible.

I also have this problem with a default Vraycarpaintmtl2 (just colors changed and I even disabled the speckles because I though this was the issue. In my case it's animation though, haven't tried it with still shots.
When I do animated aerial shots, the cars flicker like a discolight. I've learned to live with it, but it sucks. LC on animation settings, and default vray settings basically.
Is it still the way to go with 2 VraySuns, and big size for specular? It's a bit cumbersome. Latest Vray btw.Last edited by Vizioen; 23-06-2023, 08:14 AM.

Hey guys,
sadly I have the same problem here. But in our case, it is even more weird, because the scene is not animated. No moving geometry, cameras or lights.
Yet rendering some consecutive frames yields flickering highlights. All the frames were rendered on the same machine, to ensure it is not caused by changing hardware setups. It seems catching the little highlights is totally random.
We tried a number of things: Raising Min and Max AA (Min 4, Max as high as 256), lowering the glossiness of the car paint, making the sun size bigger, changing the bucket size, setting AA filter to Cubic and resetting V-Ray. Nothing helped.
Max 2023, V-Ray 6.00.20

I'd rather not talk in his stead, but i *assume* he'd like to make the feature a bit more complete, and able to deal with any high contrast situation.
For now, either use the provided build, or any of the traditional ameliorating methods (f.e. lower gloss and lower reflectivity on distant parts.).

I'm using Area as my AA filter with default of 1.5. Tried increasing to 3 but now it is much blurrier and the spots are still there.

The option is deprecated with the implementation of the Adaptive Lights. Try increasing the AA filter's (V-Ray>Image filter) size or/and add slightly effective lens effects (VFB2>Lens Effects).
