  • Vray MTLWrapper not displaying shadows

    Hi,

So I'm having a problem displaying shadows on my ground plane with a MTLWrapper. Tutorial I used as a reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roI3i8mUUaI

Here are my settings for my MTLWrapper.

However for some reason my shadows don't show up. I've heard that Domelights don't work for MTLWrapper but I tired it with other lights and nothing changed. I have a HDRI inserted to the environment and background but still nothing.

    Any help would be great.

An unfortunate snag is that I only have Vray 3.7.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

    Hi KeithM12,

Would it be possible to forward us this scene together with the HDR maps so we can investigate further? You can either upload an archived copy here or send it to support@chaosgroup.com. Make sure to mention this thread in the description.

Unfortunately I can't share the file as they're license issues with some of the assets and some of the work in the file is under NDA.

However I've tried to re-create the file without these assets. Hopefully it helps.

Here's the link to the files - https://www.dropbox.com/s/rxykpqgmoy...0Group.7z?dl=0

Thanks for the provided scene. Looks like the normals on the ground geometry are inverted. Try adding a Normal modifier and flip them; this should fix the issue. Other than that, MTLWrapper is working fine with Dome lights.

Are you serious? I can't believe it. Such a simple mistake ha.

Flipped the normals and working perfectly. Thank you
