  • [Bug Report] Changing engine type changes the GPU devices selected for rendering.

    Hey,

Changing engine type to RTX from CUDA changes the devices selected for rendering as well. Here's the video showing the issue - http://www.dabarti.com/screens/14f9c...19521c9345.mp4

This might not be an issue if artist notices the change and corrects it, but sometimes we just load render setting preset and change CUDA to RTX using maxscript and in that case artists cannot see that wrong GPUs are selected until they start rendering.

    Hey Tomasz,

When changing the engine type, the UI reads the latest saved value of the env variable (VRAY_GPU_PLATFORMS) which is written on render start / closing the scene or Max. We can make it save to env on every list change, will that work for you?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

      Hey,

I'm not sure what will help. It keeps switch to wrong GPUs even when correct ones are set via env variable.

Maybe there is difference when changing the engine type via UI and maxscript? When we start new shot we load preset via maxscript. It changers the engine type with command - " renderers.production.engine_type = 3". So maybe this doesn't update selected GPUs in UI correctly?
