  • Shadow flicker

    Hi,

I have problems with strongly flickering shadows.

    max 2021, V-Ray 5
    - maxstart.max deleted
    - after restart of max switched from arnold to vray

    V-Ray Settings:
    Default, Buckets, LC-Preset Animation
    Result:
    KaFa_max2021_Vray5_DefaultSettings.mp4
    Loop6Frames_DomeL_Tex_BFLC_VRayDeflault.mp4

I only get good result with local subdivision (V-Ray4, Global DMC).
    Result:
    KaFa_max2019_Vray4_DMC-LocalSubDiv.mp4
    Loop6Frames_DomeL_Tex_BFLC_localSubDiv.mp4

    MP4-Files in "Flicker_mp4.zip"

Could you send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we can take a look? Mention this thread in the e-mail along with your V-Ray, host platform versions, and a log from the rendering.

No scene was sent for investigation, I'm afraid. If you have a similar issue, do write to the mentioned address with the necessary information.

Without a scene, we can't figure things out: they may be obvious to some, but they aren't always so to us.
It'd be good if you could send one to support.

I cannot really send you the project files. Here is the problem: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f8986qfffr...RGB_1.mp4?dl=0

Light cache, gpu render with 3 gpus. vray default denoiser, its not turned on in this video, but produces the same flickering

                  GPU-calculated LC?
                  That's still very WIP.
Try the CPU LC if you haven't yet, it ought to fix the kind of issue you see.
