  • Value changes depending on the size of VRayLightMeter

Why does the value at the same point change so much when I change the size of VRayLightMeter (Width and Length parameters)?

Tested with V-Ray Next upd3.2 and V-Ray 5 VRayLight Meter.

Is there a way to match the results? Or is it a bug?
I cannot confirm the reliability of VRayLightMeter.

          Hi,
The problem here is that VRayLightMeter is placed in a closed geometry with no light source in it and in this case it is not expected to work at all. The reason it shows any values different than zero is that it probably detects leaks in the light cache.
If you move the VRayLightMeter helpers up, so they are outside of the boxes you will see accurate results.
Can you give us more info about what do you want to achive, so we can try to find a solution for you
          Best regards,

Is it possible to control the sampling accuracy of VRayLightMeter to stabilize the result of VRayLightMeter?

Raising the LightCache Sdiv has no effect on VRayLightMeter.

Currently, VRayLightMeter's values are not calculated per point but are based on an approximation in every division/segment of the light meter itself. This is causing the differences in the output numbers, however, they shouldn't be that large. We've logged this in our system for developer investigation (internal ID number: 10395) and we will let you know when we find a solution to stabilize the results. Thanks for pointing that out!
