  • Standalone bug? VRayLight with Direct Illumination

When I use a VRayLightMtl with Direct Illumination enabled, I get different results in V-Ray 3ds Max vs. in V-Ray Standalone. Standalone is much darker.

This can be solved by plugging the VRayLIghtMtl into a parent material, which can be a VRayBlendMtl or a Multi/Sub-Object Material (probably others?). But this seems like a bug to me.

Has this been fixed in a later version?

      Hi,
This behavior is due to the fact that geometry with VRayLightMtl applied to it and Direct illumination enabled exports as a mesh light which doesn't support Compensate Camera exposure.
A new feature request is logged in our internal bug-tracking system (VMAX-10383), but for now make sure that these two options are not enabled simultaneously to avoid differences between max and Standalone.
      Best regards,
      Milva
