  • Output frame name on long animation

Hi, is there a way to increase the 0000 number at the end of the output name?

My problem is that i'm rendering a really long animation in terms of frame ( 360000 totally ) and with the default settings vray will save the file named like this " example.0001.exr ".
The problem is that the vraydenoiser and post production software will recognize one animation from " example.0000.exr " to " example.0999.exr " and a separate animation from " example.1000.exr " and so on. Is there a way to have an higher number of 0 Iike " example.01000 " ?

I'm new to animation so probably i' ve done somthing wrong. I've tried adding an " # " to the name but it will only double the number like " example.09990999.exr also tried to add the 0 in the file name but nothing solve the problem. I do not found information about " name expression ".

I think that i need to have the frame named like this: example.0000000.exr, example.0000001, example.0053000.exr, example.0150000.exr and so on

    I hope I was clear.
    Thanks in advance, Alessandro

While Devs can figure out a way to give you custom padding (i.e. the leading zeroes. I personally have no idea if there is a way as i never even thought more than 9999 frames would be rendered in a single sequence...), you can most definitely use a renaming utility to get the renders done now, and the job pushed out of the door.

I use Bulk Rename Utility, as it's free, has a preview (so no need to rename anything until you're sure it's going to be right), and a *ton* of options, including a section on numbering which allows for custom padding.
It's by no means the only one able to do the trick, however, so feel free to use any other you may like more.

I use the Universal Renamer plugin that runs under Max. It is awesome! I sent the guy some cash for it.

Edit: Looks like he made it open source:
