  • Vray 5 lens effect render element

    Hi,

I cant for the life of me find how to get the lens effect to be saved as an element against black as with Vray Next, I cant only get the effect applied to the RGB along with all the CC's. Its very helpful to have it seperately so it can be controlled inpost.

Probably me being blind on a Friday!

    Thanks,

In the mode dropdown of the lens effects window, set the type to "image and render element".

It is now saved automatically in the image, without the need for additional setup.

Cool, The issue is our workflow was based on having it in isolation so we could play with it in post. Its very useful.

What I meant was, that the separate lens effect pass is saved automatically.

ok, so its meant to be saving that element by default? I only see it being added to the RGB_colour. If it saved the lens effects againsst black automatically as well as burn it in that would be ideal.

From what I tested on a simple scene, saving the image with activated Lens effects, includes both the baked and the separate Lens effects channel. Could you share a video reproduction/simple scene where this is not the case? Share your V-Ray and host platform versions as well.

I shall do tomorrow, just about to leave. I should say this is rendering through Deadline on our local farm. Its possible if I try locally within max it could work. I'll test and come back.

I was rendering to exr and seperate eles, and indeed the glare ele is in the exr correctly. So it would suggest a Deadline issue with split render elements. I'll test more.

Check the solution from this topic and see if that makes a difference.

Yes I have played with that before, but I'll try again. We had issues with AWS not likeing that setting, but Thinkbox fixed it. I'll certainly try that tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
