  • Slow VFB Release

I have been mentioning this for a long time, but stopping a render and waiting two minutes is killing me! It might be Forest Pro, but all my scenes have FP. It takes up a good hour of my day. What can be done?

    Progressive render with all defaults.

Or it could be good old MAX. The Task Manager shows MAX (Not Responding) while I wait.

How big are your project files Bobby ?

I’ve just completed an exterior of 3 houses, not a typical project for me, and that was 1.4Gb big and around 40million polys.

      Used FPP, RailClone, etc etc.

Everything worked fine - though GPU rendering can sometimes be a bit hit and miss.

The biggest issues I have are saving files - I find those often don’t work (on really big files) and I have to resave them under a new name (which also sometimes works sometimes doesn’t).

Cancelling jobs is pretty okay - no issues.

      (I use a i9-7980xe, 128Gb ram, 2 x RTX 3090’s).

Some are not that large, but I guess that is subjective. This current one is 1.1Gb and uses 30Gb of RAM. I don't use GPU, so the issue is on the CPU. Sometimes I can hit the FP button and I'll have to wait minutes for something to show up, which makes me think that it is an FP issue.

I believe you can trade the wait time in fPro by setting it up so it evaluates scatter only after the render has been invoked.
You'll then wait at render start, but not when getting back to max.
