Weird glow on pampas object

I bought this model and I see most other people who bought it report this glow. The person who made it though has no problems. It occurs both on vray 4, and now on 5.
On one scene is not so bad, and on the other it's unusable (although it looks cool haha). It uses opacity for pamapas effect, not refraction.

I'm also uploading the way it should look like (rendered by the creator).

Any ideas?

opacity levels in VRay settings? def is 50 if I'm not mistaken. try 300.

Yes!! Fixed - under global switches changed Max transparency levels from 50 to 300! Thank you!!
