  • Bump map different result with Vray Standalone

    I'm getting a different result when rendering material with a VrayNormalMap attached to the bump slot.
    The VrayNormalMap node has a VrayColor2Bump node attached to its bump slot and a VrayColor attached to its normal map slot.
    The VrayColor its just a basic normal map, I have to include it otherwise if the slot is left empty vray standalone won't render any bump.
    In the attachment zip, I have uploaded the scene in max, the vray scene, and some renders that I did.
    Vray standalone version is 5.00.05, but I assume this might have been the case in previous versions as well.

    The vray standalone image has lower intensity:

    Thank you for the provided scene. There seem to be two things that cause the difference - the particular bump setup and the texture blur. Is there a specific reason for not plugging the bump map directly into the Bump slot? What seems to produce no differences is directly plugging the VRayBitmap in the Bump slot with a texture blur set to 1.

    Otherwise, I've logged the two issues (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-10897 and VMAX-10898 ) for further investigation.

      The main issues has been that the bump was looking different when rendered with vray standalone.
      So I did bunch of tests to locate the issue, I did only normal, only bump and other various combinations.
      In most cases, both the bump and normal are used in the VrayNormalMap node, and the main issue has been that when using both slots the renders look different in vray standalone.

        I run tests on vray standalone 4.10.02.
        And the issue where only a single texture is in the bump slot of VrayNormalMap (normal not provided) its working fine.
