  • Filmic Tonemap Ruins Edges with Alpha

When Filmic Tonemap is on and applied to a saved EXR with an alpha channel the soft edges have a halo. It looks like the Tonemap applies to the RGB data without first properly un-multiplying the alpha.

You can especially see this is soft focus areas when using DOF.

This makes it kind of useless here. We are running a stable nightly from about 2-4 weeks ago. I can find the actual version of it matters.

    Hello,

Data out of V-Ray is not premultiplied so it doesn't need any unpremultiplying. Overall what you describe seems like the one described here:

Yes, similar if not the same issue.

It has the appearance similar to the alpha multiplication issue I mention, even though, as you say, VRay isn’t premultiplied directly.

Is there a fix in the stable branch? I think you said it was identified in the other thread.

      Thanks.

As Aleksandar explained here https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...06#post1092706 - no issue to fix.
