  • No lens effects ?

    Hello everyone
So I've rendered a couple of cameras via Deadline and saved them in the Vrimg file, to do simple processing in the frame buffer. Though I've found out that I can not do Denoise and I cannot add lens effects. Is there a particular reason? I have VRayDenoiser element in render elements...
    VRay 5 Update 1.2 , Max 2021
    Thanks.

      Hey Oleg_Budeanu,

Testing with V-Ray 5, update 1.2 and 1.3, Denoiser and Glare channels seem to be saving just fine. Keep in mind that when using Deadline for network rendering in combination with V-Ray Lens Effects, you will need to disable the Local Rendering option when submitting to Deadline. Otherwise, Deadline is not able to save your bloom/glare effects. This is also described here.

Which output method are you using? I presume testing locally, you are not observing any issues with vrimg, can you please confirm? If you could provide a screen recording (with a simple scene, for the sake of the test) so we can observe what's happening, that would be great.

Yes I just got done with this, I have been rendering on AWS and we need local rendering to be on for that to work, but locally, forgot to turn it back off!

Hi Nikoleta, thanks for the reply.
To be honest, I did not check that option, will check it out, thanks.
I am using Vrimg output, saving everything in.
This is the process: I render several cameras in Vrimg format, have Cryptomatte, Denoiser and Lightmix elements in. After that, I thought to open vrimg in the frame buffer and apply the lens effect, denoiser and a couple of corrections. Everything works except lens effects and denoiser. I will test the "local rendering" option, but I am not sure how that will affect the ability of lens effect to run in framebuffer after the rendering?
I can send you the vrimg file to test on your side, where can I upload it?
          Thanks.

You can either zip it and upload it here, or forward it via our contact form (just make sure to mention this thread in the email). Do test out with the 'Local Rendering' option disabled, this way the Glare channel should be saved as well.

              the vrimg file is 2.3gb
I will upload it to GDrive and will send you a PM with the link. Thanks.

                Hi Oleg_Budeanu,

I'll update the thread here - after having a look at the .vrimg, all layers seemed to load correctly (Lens Effects/Denoiser). Since you confirmed that it looks the same on your end after a reboot, we can consider it's working as expected. As long as the Local Rendering option when submitting to Deadline is disabled, of course

                  Yes, exactly, thanks for updating!
Looks like a weird glitch, because some vrimg files were doing denoising, some only lens effects. Rebooting solved that all.
