  • VrayDisplacement --> wood-grain-like disruption on the surface

    Hello Everyone,

when I work with VrayDisplacementModifier, I get this fine wood-grain-like disruption on the surface.
These are not part of the textures.
I don't find the fault. Has anyone had similar experiences? What could be the reason?

    Regards,
    Balazs

... looks a bit like a jpg in 8 bit?
    Use 16, better 32 bit on disp.tex.

It looks like banding in the map you are using, so maybe it's a compressed image.

If you link to the specific map you used then it's easier to tell.

The image is exported directly from Substance Painter, but that's correct, only with 8-bit. I have to try 16 or 32 bit

Ensure the 16bit is *floating point*, not integer, and you should be fine without the need for 32bpc (which is always FP).
