  • Chaos Scans don't work properly

    Hello everyone,

I used Chaos Scans for the first time today and wanted to take some of available car paints. Put them on a car. Imported the car into a studio render scene and now suddenly when I render the scene I see some larger pixels in the car paint (as seen in the attached screenshot)
Now, I'm totally unfamiliar with that issue and never had it before so I'm unsure if it really is related to Chaos Scans. The more passes it renders the more it becomes visible. Using other materials on the model won't cause this issue.
I'm rendering it on GPU (Issue happens with RTX and CUDA)
Is there a workaround for this issue?

There was a similar issue a while ago, but I think it was fixed: https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...etween-buckets
However, some materials might still be affected.

I see, it seems it hasn’t been fully fixed yet. So, the only solution I could go for is to not use the Scanned Material then which is quite a shame…
      Thank you!

Please send the scene file to support. There is no use in just avoiding the VrScans. If there are errors, they need to be fixed.

Using Chaos scans in almost every project here, they are one big advantage to using Vray and Vray GPU

I haven't seen this issue in a long while ,best is to send a sample scene to support like what Oliver suggested

Also, my issue was related to DR. In your first post you said it happens on your machine in GPU-mode?

I will try to reach to the support then and provide them my scene

And yes Oliver, the issue appears when I’m rendering with GPU (Both CUDA and RTX) with my PC. I haven’t tested to render it CPU yet because my i9 wouldn’t be able to handle the scene

Okay, so this bug is different from the one that happened to me. Thanks for getting in touch with support!
