  • Material Library TX files in VRayBitmap using View Image - Explicit Path VS Relative Project Path

    Hi Team

When adding materials to the material editor from the VRay Material Library, all the assets follow the "assets\*" convention. This display fine in Material Editor and Renders fine, due to the main path to the Material Library being added to the Project Path list as an External Files Link during installation

    HOWEVER!
Then in the VRayBitmap, when you want to use the "View Image" button to view the tx file, this does not work!

    Again, HOWEVER!
If I change the "asset\*" path to directly reference the explicit full path of the tx file, then the View Image button works just fine and it displays the tx file.

Can we get this fixed please?

For example Assets from Cosmos comes in with full direct explicit paths, can the Material Library be updated to do the same?

Confirmed as reproable: without an explicit path .tx files (only, that i can see) won't display.
They do if the path is explicit.

      Hi,

We answered on the ticket but will post it here as well.

This is a known issue when using relative paths and folders, as in V-Ray Material Library. We have it reported into our bug-tracker (VMAX-11189). We will increase the priority of the issue.
As a workaround, you can add one more path to the external Files.
You need to add the following in File > Project > Configure Project Paths > External Files:
      "C:\Users\YOURUSER\Documents\V-Ray Material Library\assets"

See the example video showing you how to do it:

      Hope this helps.
