  • Distributed Rendering - could not obtain license (1002) error

    Hi,

We're experiencing problem while rendering with Vray 5 DR. We've got three workstations with three licences (UI + render node), but during distributed rendering only 2 out of 3 machines are rendering and for the third one we get a warning: " could not obtain license (1002): All the licenses for this product are currently engaged". We've tested it on every PC and it's allways the same, one of the PCs (random) is not rendering due to that error. During those tests there was allways one host PC running a scene in 3DS Max and two other PC running just DR Spawners, so there was no possibility that another instance of Max was "stealing" the license.

We've just switched to Windows 10, 3DS Max 2021, and Vray 5 with online license. Before that it was Windows 7, 3DS Max 2015, Vray 3.7 with two online licences, and one dongle and everything worked fine.

What can be the cause of that?

    Best regards,
    Przemek

Did you transfer/convert the dongle license to an online license?
    Kind Regards,

      Hi, thanks for the reply.

It turned out that one of the PCs had a borrowed license , aquired prior to reinstallation of the OS, and the licensing system didn't recognize that as the same PC.
So two instances of the same machine were visible in license server list and of those two, the old one had a borrowed license assigned to it.
Quick email to Support resolved the issue.

      Case closed.
