  • Vray Material Library - changing assets paths

I've re-installed Vray fresh in order to change the installation location for the Material library assets to a network drive - that seems to have worked ok and so I deleted the previously installed ones in my documents folder on a local drive.

My issue is now when I add a material from the library the assets are not linked, the path is still just 'assets\Bricks\Bricks_E_NM_02_hires_raw.tx' for example. Adding the network locaction [mapped network drive]/Vray Material Library and [mapped network drive]/Vray Material Library/assets to my external files project paths does not seem to fix the issue.

Is there a way to get the material browser to add any new material as explicit network paths for their assets? I've read a few things on this but nothing, so far, has worked.

Simply adding the network location should work. I tested this and can confirm. In my case, the folder holding the assets and previews is called "mtl_lb" and the path added in the External Files is named [mapped network drive/mtl_lib]. I don't think you can force explicit paths with the default library. Adding fresh libraries through the "Add Library" functionality works with explicit paths though.

Maybe there is something else going on? Which V-Ray version build are you using? What kind of network drive is it?

      I've the same problem.
The VrayMat_Library folder is inside a "mapped_drive\shaders" path.

I open the Asset Browser, pick a mat and assign to an object. I open the mat editor and the textures path is "assets\Bricks\ ..... ".
As I use rendernodes (they have the same "mapped_drive" of the workstation), I'd like to have the full path for the textures like "mapped_drive\shaders\VrayMat_library\assets\B rick s\....." .

My External_Files on workstation has this path set: mapped_drive\shaders\VrayMat_Library .

What should I do to make it working for rendernode ?
