  • Vray 5.2 render buckets stuck at start, can't cancel.

Hi I just upgraded to 5.2, when opening an older scene, with some Forest Pack, Railclone, VrayDirt (I've read in a previous thread something with geometry compiling issues with VrayDirt, but the render started already and I haven't tested it with an override material, because I have a deadline).

After LightCache the render starts fine when it's "rendering" the sky, but the moment a bucket hits a piece of geometry, they just stay there and don't move. I can't cancel, stop or ESC out of the render, I need to force close Max.

I downgraded back to a previous stable and the scene renders fine. I can provide a scene but not for now as I need to finish this by tomorrow. But just letting you guys know already.
    A.

Please, when you have the time, send us a simplified scene which we can use to investigate this issue.

        Hi Ashley

Thank you for your scene! I was able to reproduce and isolate the problem.
It comes as you suspected from a VRayDirt map used as blend amount to the Rail Clone generated curb (Map #12 in your scene).
The issue is now logged in our internal bug tracking system with ID VMAX-11573 and I forwarded it to our developers.
Many thanks on reporting this problem!

        Best regards,
        Margarita

            Hi,

I see in the changelogs of the nightlies that his is fixed, is this correct? Also when could we see this in the stables?

            Thanks.

              Hi Ashley,

I'm sorry to disappoint you but there is no fix available for this issue yet, not even in the internal nightly builds.
Our developers are still looking into it. I'll remind them that you're looking forward to it.

              Best regards,
              Margarita

                    Hello,

It turned out that the slowdown is caused by a change we had to do in the Update 2. That change requires some changes in RailClone side too - so you would need to update your RailClone installation. Not sure if there is an official build with it yet.

                    Best regards,
                    Yavor

Thanks for the answer Yavor, I'm on the beta, so if they fixed it, I should be able to try out Update 2. Going to try it right now.
