  • Problems baking AO

    Hello!

I'm trying to bake an ambient occlusion pass for a real-time application.

However, on some objects I have this awful effect (see the end wall for example).

I have unwrapped, reset normals, reset xforms, tried different methods of AO (light material, override material, vrayambientlight, etc), but I can't seem to get to the cause of the problem.

Any ideas what I can try to solve this?

    Cheers,
    Dean

OK so it seems the model is fine, I did a quick test in arnold, and it's fine, so gotta be something to do with vray. Any ideas? Forgot to mention this is vray Next.

Can you attach a part of the scene, where the issue is present, here so we can take a look?

Your model has a lot of overlapping faces, which causes the bad AO output. You can easily resolve it by setting the Secondary ray bias (Render Setup> V-Ray> Global Switches) to 0.01.
