  • VRayDecal

I have just installed the latest vray to check the VRayDecal. It is crashing 3ds max (2019) each time I change normal angle value. New scene with only VRayDecal created, no IPR.
    Best Regards

I tried what you are describing. Installed the latest version of V-Ray for 3ds max 2019 and in e new scene tried to change the VRayDecal normal angle. It renders without crashing in CPU, GPU and IPR.
Please explain a bit further what you are doing. Maybe you can share your steps to reproduce the issue or even better a video of what is happening.

Thank you for the dump file, we'll see if it can help. Meanwhile have you tried reinstalling V-Ray and resetting your 3ds max's settings to default. This can be done by renaming the ENU folder, which is located here. C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\ 20XX - 64bit\ENU. Rename the ENU folder to ENU_old. When 3ds max is launched, a new ENU folder will be created.

Same goes for the fade out tab. Others seem to work fine and I can use the spinner and type the value without the crash.

Is there any other info/test I could provide to help to resolve this issue?

I can not recall anything but reinstall V-Ray and reset 3ds max. We tried it here in the support on several different computers but the issue is not reproducing. Please wait for the dump file results.

This turned out to be a bug. It is happening only in 3ds max 2019 and I guess it is not that common since we were not able to reproduce it the "normal" way. It is being fixed now.

I was told that the issue has been confirmed and it will be fixed. Is it possible to get an access to the nightly builds if this is already fixed? I would really use it in current project. Thank you in advance!

The fix is already in the stable nightly builds (https://nightlies.chaosgroup.com/mai...le/stable_5.2/).
