  • VRayBlendMtl + MatID

    Hi,

I am getting strange results when using VRayBlendMtl and trying to use Multimattes set to MatID.
Basically there is no Blending, it's either MatID 1 or MatID 2. I would assume there should be a gradient happening so that there is the same result such as in the RGB color.

Yes, that's already known (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-10476). I'll add your request for the feature's implementation as well.

Hi, thx for the info! I just tried in V-Ray 3.6 and the same bug is present, so it seems this has never really worked correctly yet. I will keep my fingers crossed that it will be fixed in some of the upcoming releases.

Oh, it did work: i made a few compers very happy with it over many years.
It broke at some point, and wasn't noticed, somehow, but it's being worked on as we speak.

EDIT: It turns out i remembered wrong: the traditional Multimatte never did fractional coverage.
My scripts from a while back, indeed, pointed at a wholly different approach based on custom passes.
The revised code ought to make MMs a lot more user friendly, and also help reduce the number of REs required for any given task.
