  • Lightcache pauses for minutes during calc

Why would my lightcache be pausing during calc? After a certain number of subdivs the calc just seems to halt and CPU usage goes back down to nothing. RAM is not full and no displacement in the scene. After several minutes of seemingly doing nothing, it then continues.
I know it's after a certain amount of subdivs, because if I turn the subdivs down to 200, the pause happens right near the end of the calc. If I turn it back to default (1000), it happens closer to the begining.
Just wondering if this is something I can fix within the scene. I didn't build the scene so I am not overly familiar with it. It is using several xrefs and mulitple texture maps are currently missing. Could that be why?

    Hello,

Maybe the missing maps have network paths and Max/V-Ray is trying to resolve those network paths (that can be very slow..) ?
If that is not it - probably it would be best to send the scene to our support.

    Best regards,
