  • Distributed REndering

    Hello,

    what does this message mean?
I didn't find an explanation in the documentation.
Do I need to have a server?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

distributed means you are forced to use network paths.
Define one and lead all textures and cashes along there. Then it should work.

So can it be the main computer (local machine) or has it to be a third device?

your Workstation is let's say the Master and other computers are the slaves. All network paths have to be the same there of course. Maybe refer to YOu Tube videos etc. how to set it up. In theory, it is not to hard, but it has disadvantages as well, like using distributed rendering is sometimes annoying, when using it while doing all the prerenderstuff when doing light and shading. you have to wait until everything is loaded and loaded again. A fast Mainworkstation is there more efficient. I was struggling a lot of missing nodes sometimes when I wanted to use it. Now, if I am having a big picture (only stills make sense here - don't render animation on distributed) I am putting it on a renderfarm and that's it.
