  • VFB position changes when loading render with different aspect ratio + other 'bug'.

    Hi Chaos,

    Currently I have this behaviour:

-VFB is on the left utmost monitor (3 x 4K monitor setup). When I have, for instance, a 4000x2800px render loaded, and I switch to a 4000x4000px, so different aspect ratio. The VFB jumps to my middle monitor. I drag it back. I load another one with another aspect ratio > jumps back to middle monitor.
-Somehow the layer column is almost always "collapsed". I have to drag down the handle (underneath the layer/layerpreset buttons) to see all the layers. This happens whenever I open a new 3dsMax instance. Or when he jumps to another monitor (see problem above).

    Thank you.

The VFB2 position and UI changes are saved within the file. I presume loading a new image reverts it back to its original position. However, I cannot seem to reproduce it on a fresh scene. Does this happen on a fresh scene on your end? If it concerns only a specific one, which version build was it saved with, and which do you have installed now? Maybe a short video reproduction would be helpful as well.

EDIT: You could also try resetting the 3ds Max settings to their defaults (save your previous ones) and see if that makes any difference.

I encountered something similar maybe: The VFB jumps from fullscreen to a bit minimized version and moves with little offset to the other monitor. I need to maximize it again. A fix for that is much appreciated! Using the latest version of Vray, but this happened since the release of 5 anyways

Unfortunately, this helps with lots of different problems. And is the worst and also every time a bit time-killing solution. 3D Max is old and it will not become younger. It really has to be cleaned up from all old rubbish and should get to a modern state. Damn Autodesk... Max is in the wrong hands!
