  • Cryptomatte for vrayinstancer instances?

    Hi,
I seem to be unable to get any cryptomatte render elements on vrayinstancer instances, if I eye pick the instances I get "No Data Available".
Just found out that I can get the "Node Material Name" to work, but only if the assigned material is a multi-matte.
Is this intended behavior? I would expect to be able to get cryptomatte layer when I'm using vrayInstancer. Would love to be able to get the node/material names too.

Thanks for the report and provided scene. There is a known issue with Cryptomattes and VRayInstancer (internal bug-tracker id: VMAX-9550), where the Cryptomatte ID duplicates the last created objects' ID, rather than getting its own. This can be used as a workaround (simply create a random object, so that the VRayInstancer becomes selectable). The Node material name cryptomatte seems like something else, which I'll include in the mentioned log. The material workaround is quite interesting.

      Good to know its logged
Not quite sure I understand the workaround, should I create the object right before we render? Would this work when rendering with backburner/deadline?
Right now I think the "node material name" is more consistent/predictable.

Yes, the "node material name" is certainly more predictable. I just mentioned the other one (haven't tested it through network rendering, though), just in case.
