  • Light Invisible flag is ignored when using Aerial Perspective?

Notice how the light appears like a ghost on the sky.
Disabling Aerial Perspective seems to make it become "proper invisible".

Attached is the scene file: vray_aerial_light_visible_v01.zip

Interestingly it works fine with GPU, though not necessarily helpful

Not really helpful for me, no... haha! But that does sound interesting. And maybe helpful for the devs if this is a bug.

GPU orders atmospherics in a way that cpu doesn't, as far as I'm aware anyway, so maybe that is relevant somehow.
        It sure looks buggy regardless

Hi this is a known issue. It has been logged under VMAYA-6546. I will add your report to it and bump it's priority.

Well, it's been nearly a year now - and this is still an issue in V-Ray 6.00.20.
              Can you please fix this?

... seems, that it accidentally has been fixed on the version for Maya... if it even existed there... =)

Hi I tested the issue in Maya and 3ds Max and it seems to be fixed for Maya. In 3ds Max though it is still reproducing. I will report this to our developers. Thanks for bringing it up.

I did notice the VMAYA tag in the original post, but I suppose I figured that it would be checked across platforms if it was a universal bug. Glad to hear it's being looked into for max ...now!
Sidenote: I find it odd that I'm seemingly the only one to have placed an invisible light in front of a aerial persp. fogged background an run into this issue. Is everyone relying solely on lighting with HDRI's and/or sun & sky systems now - and thus never placing their own fill/kicker lights? I know I was born way back in the 80's but still...

Hi I have a bit of a follow up. I was mislead in my test the other day. With larger distance to the light the issue is still reproducing in Maya and 3ds Max. So it depending on the scene it may not be visible but the issue is still there. It is being worked on though so the fix is coming.

In my tests it is also directly affected by the fog density - higher density will result in a more visible light.
