  • broken backward compatibility with VrayMultisubTex

Therre's an issue with the VrayMultisubTex map whereby the map loses it's selected options after opening the file with an older version of vray 5. For example, I had set up a material uising a VrayMultiSubTex random parameter set to "by element". A colleague who didn't have the most recent updates installed opened the file and resaved it. When I opened that file again, I discovered this map no longer had "By element" selected any more. On closer inspection it seems that the interface for this map has changed slightly in recent updates, and as a result backward compatibility has been lost.

Hi, V-Ray is developed in such a way that if you open a file created in an older version it works with the newer version. If you created a file in the newer version and you try to work with it on the older version we can not guarantee this will be trouble-free.
It is best if you could update all your team's V-Ray versions to the latest one available on our download page.

In addition are you using the latest V-Ray version from our site - V-Ray 5 for 3ds Max, update 2.2 released on 16.12.2021 ? One of the older builds had indeed an issue with VrayMultisubTex backwards compatibility (internal ID VMAX-11542).

Yes. we are all updated to the latest one now, but one of the team was using an older version. I believe it was Build 5.10.01. Which build had the backward compatibility issue fixed? I couldn't find anything in the changelogs regarding this.

The changes happened in Update 2. If you are using any of the new random modes or a combination of them - this is no longer backwards compatible.

ok, but why wasn't this noted in the changelog?
