3ds Max crashes when deleting a large number of materials while IPR is running

I've had this issue for more than a year now. Pretty much every time I try deleting a large number of materials in Slate Material Editor while IPR is running, 3ds Max crashes. This happens on 2 workstations here and is not a scene dependent. It happens in any scene. Anyone else experiencing this? Let me know if you need a scene for inspection.

Are these materials applied to the scene's objects? Yes, it would be best to send such a scene so we can take a look. A video reproduction would be most helpful as well.
