  • ACESCG + Translucency (thin walled SSS) compatibilty

    Hello everyone.

Could anyone help me understand why my translucency material shader is not rendering properly?

I am using AcesCG for that setup, and doing an IPR looks fine. But when i render final production, it renders without the translucency.

    Thanks in advance

Just a quick update. Maybe i´ve found a bug.

I usually set my source Forest Pack objects non renderable, to make sure it doesn´t get in the way of forgetting to turn off layers. Setting the source objects as renderable fixes the issue.

Is that something related to vray or Forest Pack?

    Tks

      Hello!

This seems interesting. Which versions of V-Ray and Forest Pack do you use?
Can you share a simple scene where we can reproduce this problem? (Use the submit form here: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and add link to this thread)
We'll need to check on the exact scene setup and materials setup to investigate what causes this.

      Thank you for sharing!

      Bets regards,
      Margarita

          Hi

I managed to reproduce the problem and the issue is now reported in our bug tracking system so that developers can proceed with it. It's logged with internal ID VMAX-12007.
The problem concerns thin-walled materials used in Multi/Sub-Object and also instancing (not necessarily Forest instancing).
Thank you for the quick respond and the provided scene! It helped a lot!

          Best regards,
          Margarita

            Hello Margarita,

Using Forest Pack 7.3.0, renders perfectly. I sent a ticket to itoo software aswell. Might be a bug on version 7.3.1.

            Tks
