Lightmix "to scene" resets all the lights and does not save lightmix settings to the scene.
The reset is expected since the modifications should already be applied to the scene lights themselves (the point is to re-render after sending the adjustments To Scene). Bear in mind that the Light Mix values are multipliers of the actual lights' settings.
I wanted to show you it not working - but I just updated to the latest version of Max - and it seems to work, although now it's writing the renders down with incorrect gamma or brightness.

Did you all mess with the gamma?
No, have you checked your Max gamma settings?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

yeah, I did check - first thing - I noticed after installing the latest version the VFB started showing in a different colour space... so I put it it back to sRGB - then I thought "oh my god, I have automatic exposure on" and thought that was why my lights were resetting.
But no, the scene just keeps rendering as it did before after I edit in light mix.
I don't know why it's happening, and I've checked all the usual suspects.
Looks like the only way is to send you guys the file as usual.
