  • VFB Batch image processing - Lens Effects, turning on and off

    Hi,

saved an animation as a vrimg sequence, but I wanted to change some layer settings and lens effects settings.

So I load up one vrimg, made my changes and saved the layer preset.

I then used the batch image processing to apply this VFBL to the whole sequence.

But the result is that the lens effects now are being turned on and off, very randomly, in some (a lot of) frames. While it shouldn't be doing this at all, cause the light stays in plain sight.

I tried multiple sequences all with the same result of random on/off lens effects.

I really don't want to re-render this whole animation. Any ideas?

    Thank you.
    A.

Hi did you use the V-Ray raw image file output to save your frames? Had you enabled Save VFB color corrections to RGB channel?
Had you enabled auto load layers in you VFB settings/History?

So you loaded a frame from the animation and made changes to what - did you load a preset at that point which you modified and saved again?

Could you send us a few vrimg and the vfbl file so we can test? You can do that here or use our support contact form.
A video of the issue could also be useful.

      Hi,

I used Pulze Scene Manager to generate the vrimg. I haven't set the save VFB color corrections option to on (there's no option in Pulze SM itself to edit some vrimg save options, I will check for this to be implemented).
Auto-Load Layers in VFB settings is set to ON.

I loaded a frame and changed some settings (exposure, lens effects), I saved this as a VFBL. This I used to batch process the vrimg files.

Now the weird thing is this:

      - When I open the original vrimg in the VFB it looks like it should (originally), but when I open that sequence in Chaos Player, the ColorCorrections aren't showning (burned out, etc.). This has probably to do with the Save VFB CC to RGB channel not being enabled.
      - So in any case when I batch process this image sequence in, the VFB with this created VFBL, and I look at the processed VRIMG sequence in the Chaos Player, all is good, except the lens effects that go on and off.

I will try and send you some files through the contact form.

Is there a way to convert a vrimg sequence to just JPG or something. The chaosplayer doesn't allow me to export sequences or anything...which is a shame. Would be nice if the chaos player grew out to be a standalone VFB on steroids with all sorts of exporting capabilities and with the VFB layer system included.

Hi after testing it was confirmed that there is a bug.
If we render and save our frames with lens effects enabled and after that we load these frames with VFB Batch image processing and apply again lens effects through the vfbl file some frames get broken. The lens effects is completely turned off for some frames.

We have to make sure that we turned off lens effects in the VFB layers before rendering our animation.

A workaround to your already rendered frames is to load the vfbl file, enable "Create effectsResult channel", save the vfbl and after that use it in the Batch image processing.
This way you will have the effectsResult render element which does not flicker like the RGB.

Reported all of this to our developers under VMAX-12105

You can use this convertor for vrimg files - https://docs.chaos.com/display/VRAY4...nEXR+Converter
