  • Blue tint in material sample slot and extra buttons V-Ray toolbar

    Hi. I just installed Max 2023 and Vray version "vray_adv_52023_max2023_x64" and I have two issues.

    1) When I turn on background. Sample slot change a color to blue tint without background. I read about similar bug with Arnold.
    2) V-Ray Toolbar: there are extra strange buttons with strange "tooltip". These buttons can't delete manualy.

    Is there any solution of these probledms?
    Thank you very much
    Mira

    Check if you have a custom background set (CME>Options>Options>Custom Background). Also, check this thread.

    You can try resetting the V-Ray Toolbar (Customize>Customize User Interface> Toolbars > V-Ray Toolbar > Reset). Otherwise, manually reverting to the 3ds Max defaults solves this.

      Hi petr_frantis,

      Regarding the blue tint issue on the material preview swatch - we've actually found out it's only happening in 3ds max 2023. It is now logged under VMAX-12159 for developer investigation.

      We'll let you know once we have any updates on the matter, thanks for the pointer!

            Hi Franx,

            Not yet, I'm afraid;
            Will bump the ticket's priority. Apologies for the inconvenience!

                Was hoping for a solution as well- definitely only a Max 2023 problem, but it's very annoying either way. Note that this actually occurs on all Materials and not just VRay ones, so maybe this is more a "global" issue.
                Beyond the blue tint, the way the VRay Materials are displayed in general regarding the highlights are just "off" in general. The previews look nothing like they do for any other version of Max.

                  This has been fixed in the latest nightly build (31469)
                  The material editor backgorund in 2023 is quite strange compared to older max versions - See below. 2023 on the left and 2021 on the right.
