  • Vray Proxy Issues

    Hey all,
I have a project I am working on that is a HUGE development. I have extensively used Vray Proxy (3D trees alone at 1.8 Billion polys) Lol. It renders without a hitch on local boxes when rendered locally, however, when sent to the farm (to the same boxes used as servers), I get errors (unexpected exceptions) in 9 out of 10 boxes, any ideas (other than the obvious, like use less proxies? Also, with a lot of proxies in the scene, (it takes a couple of minutes to select something in my scene, even when it isn't a proxy (The geometry flashes in the viewport almost endlessly, like it is trying to re-reference every single proxy or something). Also, I have heard co-workers report that they were able to narrow down render problems to specific proxies. Is it possible for proxies to become corrupt?

Are there render issues when there are 2 proxies that reference the same Vrmesh, yet are not instanced?

If you know of any Proxy issues that might help, or any helpful posts in the past, please let me know. I am only a sporadic lurker and could not remember any posts that pertained to my exact issues.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Joel,

I didn't spend much time thinking about the refresh problem while sitting by the pool :P but for the network render issue perhaps it is a pathing thing. Probably best to make sure they are using UNC paths. I'm not sure if Keith can get in there and change them. I'll see if i can do it here. It may also help to consolidate many of the objects into one vrmesh so that the server is not hit with so many requests.

no worries , see ya monday man

Hey, it's not easy adjusting to not having the Jamaican pool bar at my disposal anymore but I am doing the best I can.
