  • Silent Vray install: This app can’t run on your PC

We check and install Vray/updates on all PCs silently, and lately have this issue with last udate :

Click image for larger version Name:	Annotation 2022-05-12 101802.jpg Views:	0 Size:	49.0 KB ID:	1147935

    The cmd is:
    Code:
    vray_adv_52023_max2022_x64.exe -gui=0 -configFile="path\to\SilentInstall.xml" -quiet=1 -auto'
    All machines are Win64 pro x64 21H2

It happens after the Vray install, even before we hit close blue window, Vray IS installed/updated and runs fine (3dsmax2022)

We had this with previous 2.2 update (and actual 2.3) but never before.

Any idea what could cause this ? Never had such msg with any install process ...

    Thank you for your question.
It seems that this message is not V-Ray software related, but this is more of a Windows security policy rule.

Could you please try to change the local security policy on your Windows machine, so this message dissapears?

You can try setting the User Account Control to a lower position(never notify) and under the Local Security Policy window you can set the security options for
User Account Control: Admin approval mode ...
    and
User Account Control: Run all administrator ....
    and
User Account Control: Only elevate UIAccess applciations ...
All the above should be enabled. Then please restart your machine and check if the same issue appears.

Important: Please make sure to consult with your local IT Administator in your company, if you are allowed to change these setting in your Windows security policy settings.

Let me know if the above suggestions helped you and if you need any other assistance.
    Thank you.

      Hi, thanks for your anwer.

These settings are ever in place. Did you changed something regarding this in last two vray updates ?

We get these warnings as well. But everything seems to work just fine.

We are definitely not changing security settings.

I have the same problem. If I click "Close", I get the error a 2nd time. If I click "Close" again, the install completes. Because this is a silent install, having errors pop up that aren't really errors and blocking the install are a problem that should be addressed. User Account Control is off (for now, testing that suggestion) and it still happens. It did not happen with V-Ray for 3DS Max 5 update 2.1 or V-Ray for Maya 5 Update 2. It is new to V-Ray for 3DS Max version 5 Update 2.3 and V-ray for Maya version 5 Update 2.2.

Something changed in the silent installer(s), and it would be nice if the cause could be identified and a resolution found.

I got the same error installing VRay 6 on a bunch of machines (gui install, not silent). I believe every Windows 10 machine reported this error.
