  • Lens Effects seems to produce unrealistic results with smaller objects

I've noticed for quite some time now that Lens Effects sometimes produces unrealistic results with objects that are smaller in size. In the first image below, I'm using the default Size value of 30 and the center of the flares looks semi-transparent, revealing the hotspot below. I might be wrong, but this doesn't look correct to me. I can fix this by reducing Size to 10-15. Maybe values above 10-15 are not physically correct so the algorithm breaks? From what I see in the help docs, Size above 30 doesn't seem to produce this issue which is strange.

Hi if you have exposure correction above the lens effects it can lead to such result. It is advisable to use lens effects is as a final step. This applies not only to VFB.

This is not true. I can set up a simple scene illustrating the issue just fine.

What is not true? That it is best to have the lens effects as last step or that if you have exposure in VFB above lens effects this may lead to clamping?

I understood your last post in a way that exposure correction is causing the issue shown by the OP.

Exposure layer above the lens effects could cause similar results.

I am not sure if this is the case here.

Actually the same happens if we have exposure below the lens effects as well.

Well, still can still be considered a bug or unwanted behavior. As said before, this can easily be tested on a simple scene without any corrections.

Yes, as kosso_olli said, this happens even without any color corrections. See below.

Could you in this case send us the scene or vrimg files? You can do that here or trough our support contact form.

Sure. I've just submitted a ticked: #43776. This is not a pressing issue, so I've marked it as low priority.

It seems with higher size, the intensity gets faded or blended.
