As the title says the reflection dim fall off breaks when the material is plugged into a VrMtlWrapper set to matte or on objects set as a matte in V-Ray Properties. Dim distance works as expected but the reflection simply cuts off at the distance limit without any fade regardless of the fall off setting.

It gets weirder.
This is what it should look like. In this example image there are no mattes and everything behaves as expected:
Here's a screenshot of the viewport. Notice there's an invisible light between the camera and subject.
Here's how the above renders when the ground plane is set to be a matte (in this case using mtlwrapper). Reflection dim fall off is ignored.
And finally for extra weirdness, I've moved the invisible light so its top edge falls between the bottom of the subject and the bottom of the frame. Now the reflection is only visible in the portion of the ground plane seen through the invisible light.
If I move the invisible light behind the camera I get no reflection at all.
Hope this gets fixed soon! It completely breaks my workflow for product renders. I will have to revert to V-Ray 5 for now.

Hi our developers are working on a fix and with our tests it shows good results so the issue seems fixed. Could you send us your scene so we can test with it as well?
You can do that here or though our support contact form.

Thank you for the scene. I have tested it with our nightly build that has the fix and everything renders fine.
The fix will be available to users in the upcoming hotfix release for V-Ray 6.
The fix is also added to the stable versions from today. You can test your scene with them as well.Last edited by vladimir_krastev; 21-07-2022, 01:48 AM.
