  • Vray 5 2.3 Displacement Filter blur greyed out.

I used to switch off this filter in the vraydisplacement rollout but now it is not possible to do this. Is it off by default now or is this a bug?

Hi are you using the 3D mapping/subdivision method. Just checked in 3ds max 2023/vray6 and if you are using 2D mapping the filter is not greyed out but if you use any of the other it is.

Hi I'm using 3d mapping but I'm sure I remember this option being available previously when using this method. I'm using Vray 5.

Hi you are correct. It was available in V-Ray 4 but since V-Ray 5 it is not. This is done to prevent undesirable results.

So, is this on by default for 3d mapping because I know that it actually created results that I desired when I could turn it off. Some textures required this option?

Hi the filtering has been reworked and optimized. It is always on.
